IDEXX Children's Books

Client: IDEXX Laboratories & Melanie Francis

Members of IDEXX Labs reached out through a mutual party to see if I was interesting in illustrating a children's book about how to be a hero.
From the initial idea, a script was developed and passed along for me to interpret. I got to design all the characters, and from there begin sketching pages. With every sketch approved, I was able to render them all, and apply feedback as needed.
The finished book was published and shared throughout Maine through donations and sales through IDEXX.

Cover and most pages featured within the book are pictured!

The 2nd book was made a couple years after the first, commissioned by a member of the original team. A loved one of hers had recently passed, and she wanted to make a book to honor his memory and pass it down through future generations.
Thus, work began on Fishing with Pops, following the same creation process as the first book. Unlike the first I had photo references to follow, so I was able to interpret the original script into illustrated pages.
Digital sketches were made, shared, and refined. Pink was originally chosen as the boy's accent color to contrast the first panels colors, but changed to blue upon request.
The final book was finished and printed a year later, with a copy being sent to me so that I could see the finished product.
